Tho* Du Tu Le (English version by Việt Dzũng.)

When I die
Would you take my body down to the sea?
‘Cause for a long time, I have been living on without a country.
For a long time, I have been dying without a grave,
So when I die, would you bury me in the middle of the waves?
When I die, would you take my body down to the sea?
Don’t hesitate, you’d never feel sorry for me,
Even cry, let the fish feed on my flesh,
So when I die, I will become part of the world that is so fresh.

When I die, would you take my body down to the sea?
Under the sun, let the ebb tide carry me.
When we go, would you please not close my eyes?
So I can see, for the last time, my home country?
I’ll be gone, with the wind to the world other side,
To hear my mother’s sigh, to hear my children’s cry
From all the eyes, sadder than the night.

I’ll be gone, with the scream to eternal dream,
Where there is no more blood to be shed,
And where there are no lives to be killed.
Ever peacefully, ever peacefully.
When I die, the sadness also dies,
Somebody forever parts, so forever exiles.
When I die, would you take my body down to the sea..?
